About

DSC_5979_edited-2Hi there!  I am Kelly Kroeger, the owner and creator of Kids Talk Time, PLLC.  I have had the privilege to work as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for almost fifteen years in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, and private practices, specializing in the birth through elementary school age population. Over the course of my career, I have also mentored rising speech students, taught child development workshops as well as managed a private practice specializing in children’s outpatient rehabilitation.  I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from Auburn University in Communication Disorders and my Master of Education Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Georgia State University.  I am currently a Virginia state licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and am also nationally certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).

After taking a couple years off to be home with my young girls, I am excited to be able to see clients again on a regular basis!  And this time, on my own terms.  By starting Kids Talk Time, I have given myself the freedom to design tailor-made goals and treatments specifically for each child I see.  I am also able to use a wide variety of specialized treatment methods in my therapy sessions including: PECS (picture exchange communication system),  Beckman Oral Motor Exercises, Kaufman Speech Praxis Therapy, Hanen Language Facilitation Techniques, The Social Thinking Curriculum by Michelle Winner Garcia, The DIR-Floortime Model, Lindamood-Bell Literacy & Comprehension Programs, and Food Chaining (a treatment program designed for children with feeding disorders).

In addition to being a Speech-Language Pathologist, I am also a wife to a great man, mother to two adorable girls, creative thinker who will always be a teacher at heart, Starbucks addict, novice baker, and an obsessed mommy-photographer who usually has a camera nearby.  I am most passionate about faith and family, helping ALL children succeed, educating others about child development, facilitating creative learning environments, and volunteering for worthy causes.

My Philosophy…

I believe as parents, we are our child’s first and most influential teacher.  We know our children best and we are often the ones communicating with them most throughout the day.  I believe that speech-therapy alone is not the best approach to improving a child’s speech and language development.  Rather, a whole family approach that includes both parent/family consultations and education, in addition to speech therapy, will bring the greatest results in a child’s overall communication.  That is what I believe and that is how Kids Talk Time is modeled.
