The Story Behind the Business

I’m setting a dream free today here at Kids Talk Time!  A dream I have envisioned for a very long time.  I have toyed with the idea of having my own speech business before, years  ago after I was just married.  I had some private clients of my own and I LOVED it.  I loved the freedom to be as flexible and creative as my client needed and to develop tailor made goals for them.  I loved working alongside the parents and making progress together.  It was magic.

Fast forward a few years to motherhood.  I had my own little person, a beautiful and adventurous daughter of my very own.  I have to admit pretty much all of my career-related dreams and goals went out the window.  I wanted nothing more than to be with her during her early years.  She was magic too you see.

Long story short, I ended up taking some time off from my speech pathology career to stay home full time with my daughter.  Had another daughter, stayed home a little more.  These years of staying home with two little girls were chaotic, messy, beautiful, exhausting, and yes, magical too…all rolled into one.

Those years are now wrapping up.  I sent my oldest off to Kindergarten this year and my youngest will be starting Preschool soon.  I knew the time was approaching for me to work on that dream from long ago.   My business….but what would it look like now?  How could I combine my passion for speech-language pathology with my new found passion for mothering?  How could I help as many children as possible?  And moms too?

After months and months of thinking about how to best combine my passions and talents, Kids Talk Time was born.  It is created with two clear goals in mind.  One, to offer professional speech and language knowledge and services to those who need them.  And the second, to be a place to provide information and ideas to all parents and educators alike on how to make language learning meaningful for their children.

In short, by setting this dream free, I hope to inspire everyone to build up the communication in their homes, classrooms, and out in the community too with the important little people in their lives.  The power of communication you see, is simply magical too.
